Yes. There is no charge for the adult hearing assessment or home visit and no obligation to buy hearing aids. If a paid option may help, it is explained after the results; you do not have to decide during the appointment.
Is this a full hearing assessment or an online screening test?
It is an in-person professional assessment. It includes a discussion of your hearing and communication needs, examination of your ears, pure-tone audiometry and an explanation of your audiogram. Online tests are useful screens but cannot physically examine your ears or provide the same clinical context.
How long does a home hearing test take?
Most Hear Better appointments take around 45 to 60 minutes, although it can take longer when there is more to discuss. It helps to allow about an hour in a reasonably quiet room so the appointment does not feel rushed.
Can I arrange the test for a parent, partner or relative?
Yes. You can make the initial request for someone else. The person being tested must be comfortable with the appointment, and family or carers can take part with their agreement.
Is a home hearing test suitable for an older person?
Yes. Adults of any age can be assessed, and a home visit can be particularly convenient where mobility, transport, dementia, mild cognitive impairment or unfamiliar environments make clinic attendance harder. The appointment is adapted to the individual.
Do I get the hearing test results straight away?
In most cases, the main findings and audiogram are explained during the visit. If something needs further medical or specialist assessment, your audiologist will explain why and what route to take next.
