Starkey hearing aids, fitted at home across the North East

Starkey sits a little apart from the other big names. It is American and family-owned, and it builds its hearing aids to be health devices as much as hearing devices, with things like fall detection and activity tracking built right in. We fit the Starkey range, and as an independent practice we will only recommend it if it genuinely suits your hearing and your life. If another brand fits you better, we will say so. It all starts with a free hearing test at home, and the care that follows is included for as long as you wear them.

  • Independent advice, with no brand we are tied to
  • Tested, fitted and looked after in your own home
  • A free hearing test to begin, with no obligation attached

The difference

What Starkey does differently

Starkey was the first manufacturer to treat a hearing aid as something that looks after your wellbeing, not just your hearing. Alongside strong AI sound processing, its aids can sense a fall and alert a chosen contact, track your steps and activity, keep an eye on your heart rate, and even guide you through a balance exercise.

For older wearers, and for families who quietly worry about a parent living alone, that combination is genuinely reassuring. It is the brand to look at if you would value a hearing aid that does a bit more than help you hear. Starkey also makes the longest-lasting rechargeable batteries in the industry, so running out of power partway through the day is rarely a concern.

The technology

The technology, in plain terms

The latest Starkey aids use a dedicated AI processor for sorting speech from noise, paired with the health sensors the brand is known for, all managed through the My Starkey app.

  • You hear better and stay safer, with fall alerts that can reach a loved one
  • The longest battery of any rechargeable aid, so you are not watching the charge
  • An app that does far more than volume, including activity and health tracking
  • Remote adjustments on supported models, so some fine-tuning can happen without a visit
  • Auracast ready, for tuning into public audio broadcasts in venues, airports and theatres

Starkey Omega AI, the flagship, newest and fullest

Released in late 2025, Omega AI is Starkey's most complete hearing aid. It pairs their best speech-in-noise processing with the widest set of health and wellness tools, so it is the first choice if you want everything Starkey does.

Starkey Edge AI, the previous flagship, still excellent

Starkey Edge AI, the previous flagship, still excellent

Honest advice

When Starkey might not be the right brand

We will be honest with you. If you have no interest in health and wellness features and simply want the best pure performance in heavy noise, or the most natural sound, you may be paying for things you will not use. In that case we would point you to Phonak, whose strength is speech in noise, or to Widex for the most natural sound. Starkey is the right answer when those built-in health features genuinely add something for you.

How it works

How we fit Starkey hearing aids

Starkey's extra features only help if they are set up properly, so that is part of what we do at the fitting.

  1. 1

A free hearing test at home

A full assessment in your own home, at no cost, with your results explained in plain terms.

  2. 2

    A clear recommendation

If Starkey suits your hearing and you would make use of its health features, we will tell you, and which model. If not, we will guide you elsewhere.

  3. 3

    Fitting and set-up

We program your Starkey aids to your hearing and set up the My Starkey app, including features like fall alerts and a contact to notify, so they are ready to use.

  4. 4

    Aftercare for the long haul

Adjustments, cleaning, servicing and help with warranty and repairs, for as long as you wear them.

Starkey questions

Common questions about Starkey hearing aids

Do Starkey hearing aids really detect falls?

Yes. Starkey's aids can sense a sudden fall and send an alert to a contact you choose through the app. It is one of the main reasons people, and their families, pick Starkey, and we will set it up properly at your fitting.

Are Starkey hearing aids American-made?

Yes. Starkey is the only one of the major manufacturers that is American and family-owned, based in Minnesota, and it is known for its focus on hearing aids as health devices.

How long do Starkey batteries last on a charge?

Starkey makes the longest-lasting rechargeable batteries in the industry, comfortably enough for a full day on a single charge, including time spent streaming.

How much do Starkey hearing aids cost?

Private aids are priced by the level of technology you choose, so there is no single figure. We begin with a free test and a no-obligation recommendation, then explain the options and prices clearly so the choice is yours.

Can you get Starkey hearing aids on the NHS?

The NHS fits from a limited list that does not usually include Starkey's latest aids. Going private gives you the full range and a fitting shaped around you, and we will explain the difference honestly.

Is it Starkey or Starky?

It is Starkey. It often gets typed as Starky, so if you have seen it spelled differently, you have found the right place.
